Superintendent's Opening Message

Dear Blue Hills Families,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 Blue Hills school year! We are so excited to meet our new freshmen, new sophomores and their families. It is also a great pleasure to welcome back our returning students and families. Enzo, our comfort dog, is looking forward to meeting and greeting everyone at the door in the mornings, too! As projected, our enrollment continues to grow as we expect over 900 students this year due to the demand and recognition of the value of a career vocational technical education. At Blue Hills students have options. Students are building their future as they prepare for careers and/or post secondary education which aligns with our core values of community, opportunity, relevance, and employability.

Blue Hills faculty, staff and administration spend much time during the summer preparing for the opening of school. Our facilities crew has been very busy overseeing the sealcoating of the parking lot, preparing the fields, gym and locker rooms for our student athletes, cleaning classrooms, painting and so much more! Many of our faculty members focus on their own learning or working in their field which enriches their knowledge to share with all of you. Administration has been busy master scheduling, writing grants, attending professional development workshops, developing goals that align with the final year of our Strategy Plan and re-charging to suppotr all our teachers, staff and students. We have also been very busy hiring and thoughtfully planning support for all our new staff's transition and their growth as Blue Hills employees throughout the school year.

September is symbolic of a fresh start as we journey through new experiences, build new relationships and set new goals for the school year. Our District goals this year highlight academic, vocational technical and social emotional learning. We have partnered with The Social Institute which provides excellent content for students and their families on winning at social media and well-being. We will be creating and implementing a new Strategy Plan for the 2023-2024 school year, partnering with Mass Insight to conduct an equity audit which you will hear more about during the school year, auditing curriculum, developing the Portrait of a Blue Hills Graduate and much more!

On behalf of our faculty, staff and District School Committee, we look forward to another successful and rewarding school year. We wish everyone a happy, healthy school year and a great first day. Once again, thank you for your continued support of Blue Hills.

Very respectfully,

Jill M. Rossetti, Superintendent-Director
